Monica talks about the wonder of life

Good morning, everyone. This is Monica Bellucci here with today’s post on Monica Bellucci Online, the website with a little something for everyone. Today I want to talk about wonder—about the absolute wonder of life.

The topic came to me just two days ago when while I was driving up Wadsworth Boulevard, getting close to West 80th Ave, I saw a big sign that said, “Tree Care Arvada.” I had seen that sign about a million times before, but I had never noticed it before, not really.

But somehow two days ago I did notice it; I saw it as if it were being presented in flashing red lights. I don’t know why that happened, all I know is that it did happen.

And no sooner did I notice that sign than I began to wonder about what it was talking about; I began to wonder about trees.

Where did they come from? I wondered. Who on earth could have dreamed up the idea of a tree.

When you think about it, that’s a very amazing idea. The idea, of course, is that you start with a seed, a tiny little seed that you can hold in the palm of your hand.

But inside that seed is all the design and machinery to create a tree that towers a hundred feet or more into the sky. And that grows a trunk perhaps a dozen feet around.

But…how astonishing. What an amazing idea.

But it’s no more amazing than so many other things you can see around you—water, for example. Where did water come from? Where would we be without water?

And what about air? Where did that come from? Where on earth could that have…

Do you see what I mean? All you have to do is start paying attention to things, start looking at things, seeing them with beginner’s eyes, and everything will start to strike you as amazing.

But today is just a start. We’ll talk more about this tomorrow.
